Shoulder issues?
Join the club!
We have quite a few clients suffering with various shoulder ailments.
It was enough of them that we partnered with Dynamic Edge Physiotherapy in Wilton for a seminar specifically on the topic.
We wanted to share some of our biggest takeaways:
Keep blood flowing to the area to encourage healing. That can be done in a variety of ways, including cardio workouts (properly modified and with sufficient warming up) and heat (both heating pads and saunas).
Movement is medicine. We learned a few gentle exercises that keep motion in the arm while avoiding stress, including the pendulum and wall walks.
Sleep is vital to recovery. While you sleep, your body is clearing out inflammation from the location (from our whole bodies, actually).
Proper nutrition and water. Giving your body the proper mix of macro and micronutrients it needs to heal itself is vital.
Red light therapy (RLT). RLT helps speed up the healing process, as it supports muscle repair and reduces inflammation.
Find a team. Having your physical therapist work directly with your fitness coach is a great way to improve outcomes, as the two can work together to keep you moving while protecting your injury. (The same goes for any other joint, including knees, hips, backs, and necks!)
If you like more details, feel free to reach out to us or Dynamic Edge directly.
Injuries are not a reason to stop exercising entirely. You just may need a slightly new strategy.
Between Revity3 and Dynamic Edge, we are here to help keep you moving!
