Just pick one thing!

The kids are out of school, people are coming in from out of town, you are leaving town, you have more holiday party invites than you have time to attend, and inevitably, someone is going to get sick.

Lots going on in late December!

But I’m going to ask you to do one more thing.

Just one.

Pick something, literally anything, from your physical-, mental/emotional-, or brain-health habits that you can keep going until the New Year.

Don’t overcomplicate it.

If you’ve built a habit of going to exercise, keep that up.

If you’ve built a habit of starting your day with one glass of water, keep that up.

If you breathe/meditate/pray every day, keep that up.

If you read one chapter of a business/self-help/leadership book a day, keep that up.

If you practice a new language or musical instrument, keep that up.

If you try to do too much when you’re pulled in a thousand different directions, nothing will end up getting done well.

For me, my good habits fall into three categories: Never waiver, 80% don’t waiver, waiver more often than I’d like!

Tracking my food is something that would fall into the wavering more than I’d like category. So would avoiding sweets and alcohol. (I’m human!)

Doing something good for my brain (reading/podcasts for learning, Spanish lessons, etc.) and/or body (lifting, cardio, yoga, rucking, walking, etc.) fall into the 80% don’t waiver bucket.

Some examples of things that never waiver: going to bed early (even on vacation!), 16 ounces of water as soon as I wake up, and journaling first thing in the morning.

During the next few weeks, with crazy, out-of-the norm schedules and dinners, the one thing that I know I can keep up is working out.

If I do that one thing, everything else becomes easier and better.

So that’s the one thing I’m going to keep up, no matter what, this holiday season.

What about you?

What’s the one healthy habit that you can stick to for the next two weeks?

(We’ll talk about how to reset yourself once the New Year hits, and life returns to “normal!” Hint: It’s easier than you think!)
