Breathe before opening…
Quick, true story for you…
The other day, on a Friday night at about 6pm before the holiday break, I decided to go to my home office in our basement to do some Spanish homework.
I opened my laptop, and out of sheer habit (and perhaps a bit of being a worry wart), I checked my work emails.
I found not one, but two unexpected emails that created more work for me.
Don’t get me wrong, I have no issue working. In fact, I have a hard time turning work-mode off.
It was the timing of the emails that did it to me.
Literally ruined my Friday night.
After sleeping on it (and stress waking me up before 2am), I decided that my laptop needs a warning label.
So I made one.
“Breathe before opening.”
My laptop is the biggest deliverer of stress in my life, so from now on, before I open it (either my personal laptop or my business one), I am going to stop and breathe for one minute.
Your stress delivery system may look totally different than mine. (Perhaps it even walks around and lives in your house! )
No matter.
As we move into 2026, I am going to constantly remind you of two things: Taking care of yourself physically and taking care of yourself mentally.
Here’s a first easy step
Before you enter a potentially stressful situation, take one minute to breathe. Prepare yourself, calm yourself, do something for yourself.
Just one minute.
Let’s get better together.
