Why does that hurt?

Have you ever thought that to yourself?

I certainly have!

There can be many reasons for pain, but there’s one I’d like to focus on today: Pain when you fully contract or fully extend a muscle.

It may not feel painful, exactly, but it is certainly uncomfortable. And when something is uncomfortable, we are less likely to do it.

The problem is that when you do not take your joints through their full range of motion, you will slowly lose that range of motion. Your body will think that it is not safe to move in that way, and it will prevent you from doing so…hence the pain.

It is vital, particularly as we get older, to exercise to the fullest possible range of motion safely. And when I say safely, I mean under the watchful eye of someone trained. Someone that is right there in front of you watching for imbalances, watching for misalignments, and watching to make sure you are actually completing the exercise as you should!

We at Revity3 specifically train all of our coaches to be on the lookout for these things. We know how it feels to lose range of motion, we know what it looks like, and we know how much it can detract from the quality of your life!

Come to one of our workouts and see how much attention we pay to YOU!

Sometimes more than you might like!
