Do you have a space?
The holidays are coming…
So I’ll ask you again: Do you have a space?
Do you have a space where no one will bother you?
A space where people know to leave you alone?
A space where whatever troubles you have can be put to the side?
A space just for you.
Everyone needs a space like that.
It may not even be a particular physical location. Maybe you get to that space through meditation. Deep breathing. Quietly praying.
I have a couple of spaces like that: The racetrack (HERE is a video of me at Virginia International Raceway last year) and at the gym.
Everything else seems to melt away when I’m at one of those two places.
I love to walk too, and no one bothers me, but I find that walking is a great way for me to work out issues that I’m having or to brainstorm new ideas. (A subject for another day, to be sure.)
This week, this Thanksgiving week of families and friends, I challenge you to find that space.
The holidays are, for many people, about being with others and being selfless.
Nonetheless, everyone still needs a space of their own, even for just a few moments.
Find yours.
